Directory Signs: Before & After
The original directory signs included insertable strips for each line of text, which our building management custom ordered with each change. After fabrication, a team member would then replace each strip, sometimes requiring the removal of many or all strips if content was re-ordered.
As part of the design and analysis process, I observed people interacting with the original signs. I also informally asked for their feedback. Lastly, I partnered with our Regional Office on site to include a visitor survey that I wrote and designed with focus on their wayfinding experience.
Based on these results, I designed new directory signage that is welcoming and easier to understand. It has a clear hierarchy of information, map graphic, and emphasis on our regional office location.
